Linode.com - delays with setups
I signed up for a linode 64mb account yesterday because I liked the idea of being able to install / rebuild a UML VPS with different OS's etc, for testing / development etc.
So far, my account has not been setup and its been 30hours+ since signing up. I also had a little difficulty getting signed up in the first place - when choosing my username and password the first time around, the confirmation email never arrived - second time around I recieved the confirmation email within a couple of minutes...
The signup page states "All accounts are activated within hours." - I just hope this doesn't turn into days....

As per some of my previous posts here I have nothing bad to say about Linode.com - sure, there may not be someone around 24x7 but this has not been much of a problem in my experience. If you look at the forum you won't find unhappy customers - likely the most unhappy people you see there will be eager new signups that can't wait to be activated. Perhaps there were fraud checks which needed to be carried out on your account before being set up?
If you decide you're able to wait that long then I don't think you'll be disappointed.
xland - How long have you been waiting?

Did you try emailling their support/popping in a support ticket? Your order may have slipped through the cracks. Or there could be a problem.

good to hear, you'll usually find that most hosting companies are close to 16-20/24 hour operations ....... i know personally in my private ventures to be prepared once you start a marketing campaign and hosting companies need to be ready to open a new server if need be to keep things like server load at normal levelsOriginally posted by misnomer
