Does my server support Xerces, Xalan and Java Mail ??

Hi,

someone has asked me whether my server supports Xerces, Xalan and Java Mail. I did never use these programs and I am not sure whether my server supports this. I do have Tomcat installed on the server. I did enter locate Xerces, locate Xalan and locate javamail and the results are below. Can someone tell me from that information if I do support these programs or how I can find it out ?

root@server [~]# locate xerces
/usr/local/jakarta/lib/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/local/jakarta/lib/xercesSamples.jar
/usr/local/jakarta/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.12-src/catalina/build/common/endorsed/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/local/jakarta/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.12-src/build/common/endorsed/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/local/jakarta/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.12-src/dist/common/endorsed/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/ant/lib/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/ant/LICENSE.xerces
/usr/src/tomcat/lib/xercesSamples.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/lib/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/ant/lib/xercesImpl.jar
/usr/ant/LICENSE.xerces

root@server [~]# locate xalan
/usr/local/jakarta/lib/xalan.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/ant/lib/ant-xalan1.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/ant/lib/ant-xalan2.jar
/usr/src/tomcat/lib/xalan.jar
/usr/ant/lib/ant-xalan1.jar
/usr/ant/lib/ant-xalan2.jar
/opt/IBMJava2-13/lib/xalan.jar

root@server [~]# locate javamail
/usr/src/tomcat/ant/lib/ant-javamail.jar
/usr/ant/lib/ant-javamail.jar

Thanks,
Tom

One thing is certain - you may need help to put your server in order.

Tomcat was installed by the datacenter guys so I already took someones help to set that up. I just don't know if that stuff like Xerces etc. is installed by default or if I have to install it manually. I don't know how to find out if its installed either.

1.Source code for Tomcat is downloaded to your system, but I am not sure if it's installed. Typically some other directories with xerces will pop-up(ed) after compilation and deployment of Tomcat.

2. Tomcat needs xerces and xalan

3. You have some other version of xerces and xalan on your system unrelated to Tomcat.

4. Your customer is a serious cookie and should not be taken easily if he/she has requested xalan and xerces.

5. This is why you need a good help.

Peter.

I asked my datacenter and they say Xerces and Xalan is not supported by default and they don't install/support it. I told the client that because I won't be able to set this up myself...
