Large disk space VPS solutions?
I'm looking for a VPS solution which offers a large amount of disk space (20 GB+) for a reasonable amount per month (less than $50/month) It doesn't have to be on a super fast machine. Does anyone know of any providers offering this?

really for that much disk space you are really pushing into dedicated terrirtory. I personally don't know of any providers that offer that much disk available on a VPS I know EV1 offers 20g and that is quite large.

Yes - the Ev1 offer is what got me thinking of this. I plan to use it to store monthly backups offsite (in additoin to more frequent NAS backups) and also for secondary DNS. I don't want to share a server with someone else because I want to keep the data private and not worry about what the other person might do to the server, etc. My budget for this isn't quite large enough for a decent server, so if I could get a large VPS on a better server/better network that would be better than having a really cheap server on an unreliable network all to myself. But maybe EV1 are the only ones offering such a large disk space VPS plan...

rackforce.com offers 10gb of webspace but it costs 50$, you dont have to get a dedicated for such space, "never seen a dedicated with 20GB HD" you can get a semi dedicated that offers 20GB. you can say its a big reseller account but you wont get root access as in the VPS.

steadfastnetworks.com seems good, but he's looking for something less than 50$, i guess that can only be acheived with a semi dedicated.

Semi-dedicated basically refers to a reseller account where they can oversell the disk space on the machine to achieve the lower prices?

well, overselling depends on the provider, semi dedicated is a big reseller account, where a few number of them are placed in one server.

Thanks everybody. Ended up getting an EV1 VPS for $39/month for 200 GB of transfer and 20 GB of space. It was hard to get since it's a limited intro offer at this point, but worth the effort it seems.

My company is looking at offering a backup solution, and I am pretty sure you could find some more options from other providers by just looking for a backup solution, not a full VPS, if that's what you need. The cheapest you'll find 50GB for though is about $50 a month, probably not less than that.

Thanks Karl. The VPS was a good value for me because it will allow me to kill two birds with one stone. First the 20 GB of space allows me to use it for an offsite backup space. And second, root access should allow me to install the dns-only version of cpanel to function as a secondary dns server (I say *should because EV1 currently only sells them with plesk so I either need to install cpanel dns-only along side plesk which may work, or remove plesk - probably shouldn't be any problem, but you never know...) The end goal in all of this is to move from two P4 servers to a Dual Xeon SCSI server + VPS which should allow me to pool my resources and better handle spikes in any one given site, yet still maintain dns redundancy and off-site backup.

Well, you could get a low end server instead with more space for you to grow. I think $50 should be able to get a low end server easily
