Is this a good deal?

Is a single processor P4 3.06GHz, 512Mb, 2x120Gb IDE with 1000Gb b/w on a 10Mbps port (actually 100Mbps limited to 10) for $1,000 a year a good deal?

The server is located at Vortech's data center in Orlando.

The price supposedly also includes cPanel/WHM.

I hope you don't plan on prepaying for a year... you've seen what happened with AN it's always smart to keep it monthly

I would not recommend you prepay for 1 year in advance. With all the fiasco revolving AN, its not a good idea.

Good point. That was also my concern (although I do not know what 'AN' is).

I called the data center and they confirmed that the seller is on a month-to-month account so I will be giving it a pass.

Thanks for the responses.

AN is Angelnetworkz. There were many threads about their fraud and eventual extortion.

I wouldn't prepay nothing for a year except for domain registrations and SSL certificates. Just do some searches around here for things oh, like "out of business" or maybe "disappeared" or "closed down" etc. After a few 5 page long threads of one provider or another going belly up you'll quickly get a bad feeling about prepaying.
