cPanel User Shell Access

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to give a cPanel user acct the same access amount as a user acct created via shell (using the commd "adduser username") When you login under that it always says like
username@main [~/directory]

When you create a user via cPanel it gives you like a less of an access thing: -bash-2.05b$. If there a way to change this so that the cPanel user account will be the same as one created via Shell? My server is running RH9 if that helps. Thanks in advance!

I think I found a way.

First Create the account via shell.
Then go the directory /var/cpanel/users and add the user. It seems to have worked. If there is a better way to do this then please tell me! This works yet I have it setup as the domain as:

username.live-wirehosting.com
Yet I don't think the subdomain registered correctly. Also it isn't listed in WHM as an account. Is their a way to fix this all? Thanks!

As long as you are not using jailed shell for Cpanel, any account created in Cpanel with shell is the same as any useradd shell (i.e. /bin/bash). The only differences really is to do with bash preferences. Cpanel somehow don't create those bash files.

Do this:

Create the account under cPanel
Go to one of your home directory of a user created using useradd
Copy .bashrc and .bash_profile to your newly created Cpanel account

Done.

cd
