last december I ordered a transfer for a domain to registerfly.com , I filled out all data, then put my CC info, well about 30 min. later I recieve an email that looks like this:

Later I oppened a support ticket with them, and I recieved no awnser. I checked my CC to see if they did charge it. And yes they did. so I opened again a ticket to ask them if they will give me a credit or something and still got no reply from them.

about the domain never mind I did it with another registar. and had no problem.

If they failed to do the transfer, can they charge my Credit Card and keep the money wich I paid for a full new year of regestration that i didnt recieve them???

It is normal practice of some registrators, networksolutions is doing the same way, so i will never register new domain with them.

You should also read the Terms of Service or detailed pricing FAQ before you do business with anyone.

Hidden fees in the Domain registration business seem to be more and more common as the number of new domains registered drops off, and more and more discount registration services pop up - who cannot possibly pay the bills with their registration prices.

Domain transfers are nortorious for taking considerable amounts of time with often no reward for the destination reseller.

Let me give you one recent example.

There is a domain registrar who charges you, the domain owner, what amounts to 4+ years of registration fees when you transfer your domain away from them. Imagine the surprise of the domain owner who does not know this when they initiate the transfer. The transfer gets hung up, he contacts the receiving registrar, we dig into the problem and find the fee. We inform the potential client. The client has no intention of paying a high "transfer away" fee, so he cancels the transfer. The receiving registrar refunds the potential customer. The receiving registrat gets nothing for his time.

Happens to me about once a week, since we don't charge to attempt a transfer, but only charge if the trasfer is completed. Sometimes it ties up a support person for 2 hours of emails and research - resulting in no business, and often no future business from that customer. It's a cost of doing business, and building a reputation. It's not the best short term business model.

This is why some have chosen to make transfer fees non-refundable, even if the transfer fails.

Bottomline: i selected http://www.gandi.net for my domain registrations and it rocks. Now have handreds domains with them.

Go Daddy will charge you a fee even if the transfer is unsuccessful. They will work with you to determine why, but I got burnt on the fact the name I was trying to transfer had been created less than 60 days ago.

Out $8.95. What is weird is that Go Daddy will try it again in 30 days if you request it, but not 60.

I will go for a charge back. that is fraud. they didnt mention anithing about that in the terms & conditions that appears before I made the transfer.

they clearly mention evrething about the 60 day old rule, and other stuff but nothing about the transfer being charged if fails.

I currently have 39 domains. 3 are with registerfly.com , I was going to transfer all my domains with them, but after this i will take my 3 domains and go to my old registra wich is very good , never had any problem with them, exelent support ($2 more than registerfly.com)

They will see that chargeback soon.
