Important components of Hosting Business

What are the things that are absolutely necessary for a hosting business. Some of which i think are absolutely necessary when you are a hosting company (not reseller) are:
1.) Good building with a reliable lease.
2.) Good Airconditioning
3.) Clean Bandwidth sitting preferably on a Tier-1 provider's ring
4.) Knowledgable employees
5.) Security measures for the office
6.) Spare servers
7.) Reliable Power supply
8.) A good restaurant nearby

#9 Insurance

You never know when an act of god or something totally unforeseen could happen.

#10 Credit

Not just something backing your name, but your wallet as well. Don't EVER over use this or use it poorly, but have it, if you can get it.

#11 Legal

Have some kind of legal ad. Even more so, when registering your company and for such things as your terms of service. They can also be good for unseen problems.

#12 Common since

Never under estimate this for yourself, your employees, competitors, and those who you do business with.

For good business it makes sense to have good customer service, go that little extra for the customer and they will appreciate it.

Possibly add backup services and monitoring for your servers so you know when they go down!

I am surprised no one has counted “Quality Support" as yet. I think this should have been in Top 5 Points

I think it's included within "Customer Service".

I think you need to have some possible back up sources for help. When you're starting out... you dont know everything. Have someone you can go to for guidance. Use the people that have been around in the early 90's that are still in the business...because those are the ones that have gone through the .com era and can show you how they survived.
