beware of statichost

beware of this host! i would suggest that you better not deal with such people.

my friend is looking for a new host few days ago because his current host is facing some problem. he posted a thread in the freewebspace and statichost replied. after some conversation through emails, everything seems fine. hence he decided to go with it. unfortunately after he have paid statichost by paypal for 1 month hosting, his current host finally comes to an agreement with me. to save the trouble of moving host and to give it another chance since it has a history of more than 1.5 years, he decided to stick to my current host afterall.

he pm statichost that he decided to cancel the subscription and requested a refund. note that nothing was even created yet. he paid and request for refund even before the payment was accepted! but statichost refused! claiming that all payment shall not be refund.

if you think that he has not read the TOS or watever then think again. you sure you want to deal with such host?!

Assuming I'm reading the right site, according to their TOS, refunds are not given out for any un-used time.

Just curious how much the 1 month bill is and how much time you will spend collecting it ?

If it states in their AUP/TOS that they do not give refunds, then they have the right to do so. Although I know mosts hosts would give a refund regardless.

You should always read the terms of service as some companies do not give refunds but if he has not used anything I would just do a refund but its not my business.

This does not make the company bad at all. All companies have their terms and some software companies as well do not give refunds even if the product does not work.

Which doesn't make the company bad, but it says something about it nevertheless.

I definitely agree with this ldcdc, especially when the services in question are unused.

Most hosting companies that don't charge a setup fee will not refund a charge for a 1st month etc.

what i feel that since nothing is even setup and a refund was requested even before the host accept the payment, it shouldnt be considered as a payment right? if their TOS does cover this, bad luck for my friend but it says something about the host doesnt it?

why would they do this when they are a new host??? and a one month payment is not much.
