Man.. this really hit me hard for some reason.
I was searching for something, and accidently found one of the threads from 9/11/01, WHTers posting at it was all unfolding, as stupid as it sounds, I think these are a couple really cool pieces of history. It's really interesting to go back and read these posts, I wasn't around here back then, but.. I thought I'd share the couple threads I found if anyone was interested in a late-night read (Here in the States anyhow)

It's nice to take a look back sometimes, and out of all of the talk you hear everyday on the news about 9/11 and all of it's "related" events, this struck me as more, and sort of re-ignited what I felt in those times.

Indeed 9/11 is a very sad day. I still remember that day very well. I can tell you from 6:00 am till I went to bed. In away I want to remember, and in away I want to forget the pain and suffering.

I remember those threads. I was just about to blast one of the guys who started it, as a poor joke - till I turned on the TV. I stayed glued to the tube for a few days after that.
If you haven't seen the documentary by those two french brothers (who started doing the doco on the NY firefighters till the towers came down) you should. It's supposed to be the only recorded footage from 'inside' the towers as the first tower came down. It's called 9/11.

yeah, I wasn't a member here back then...but I remember sitting infront of the tv for days, switching between channels. here in europe they had newsbreaks for days after the tragic event, on every channel, no regular television for almost a week. It was a sad sad thing that happened, and affected us all in many ways

A few weeks ago, I was at the Duluth Imax theater watching the Imax movie "Ghosts of the Abyss" One about the Titanic, where they went down with 2 manned submarines, and then they used remote control ones the size of a computer monitor to go in and explore the inside of the titanic for the first time.
About halfway through the movie, one of the guys in the submarines said something to the tune of "Here we are, looking inside the Titanic for the first time, its history in the making, September 11th, 2001." They then surfaced, and heard from the crew on the boat what happened in NYC.
That was pretty powerfull for me, and brought a few tears to my eyes. Seeing these people find out for the first time, the day it happened. It was almost like I was hearing it again for the first time.
-----
I first heard about this at breakfast at the Dining Center in the dorms. One of my friends who is in Air Force ROTC came to breakfast and had heard about it at their morning thing. I thought it was just rumor, and figured it was a Sesna (sp?) because they just said a plane hit the towers. On my way to class, there was a TV in the hall playing the news. I stopped, and just as I started watching, the 2nd plane hit the towers. I skipped class and continued to watch until about half an hour after the towers fell. I then went back to my dorm room and watched it there.
A couple people have a link to a flash movie in their sig here... I think SWR is one of them. Its a good movie. We should never forget what happened.

Who can forget that day...
My mom called me early in the morning after the first plane hit but before the second, I turned on the TV and within a few minutes the second plane hit.
She said something about "I bet they hit the Pentagon next" and I was like "no way there's no way they can get a plane into the Pentagon you just KNOW there's buttloads of AA guns and missiles protecting THAT building" then they hit the Pentagon and I was like "damn so much for that theory".

I'm same as Dixiesys but it was just before 2 in the afternoon here (UK time). There was my girlfriend, my mate and me had just watched an aussie soap and then the second plane hit live on tv.
We were all tbh confused and shocked at what an earth was happening, I remember saying has something happened to all the computers that's put them on crash courses! It was like slow motion in my head and I thought this was going to unfold that this was/is happening the world over. Amazing!!!

I was in Washington on a school trip at the time of the attacks. If it happened 1 hour later, I woulda been inside the FBI Building on a tour. Now THAT woulda been something.... can you imagine the mass histeria that probably took place inside the FBI headquarters?
