Came across this program recently and while it sounds good the program seems to take info from you and stores it on gators servers. They say privacy is protected and they don't have access to passwords etc but who can be sure.

Are there other programs out there that just reside on your own computor that will keep track of passwords and personal info for filling out forms?

You are worried about privacy? Just remeber one thumb rule of the internet, never trust anyone. These programs can do anything. For all you know, they might create back doors to your computer which the makers themselves wouldnt know about. So bottom line, dun be lazy and type a lil more. Use the IE auto fill feature instead.

Isn't three some MS "wallet" thing that does this... I believe you can find it at the ms windows update site.

I've used Gator for quite a while now, without problem... works pretty darned well. I've also carried their ads on some of our sites and dealt with them for... geez, think it's a couple of years now -- and they appear to be highly reputable.

However, there is always much to be said for healthy paranoia.

There are a lot of system-based utilities for this floating around. A good place to go scouting might be the large download sites. http://www.WebAttack.com is a first stop, as they tend to orient toward Internet-related shareware and freeware.

looked at Gator once

I looked at that program myself once, but ended up sitting on the paranoid, wearing an alfoil hat to keep the aliens out side of the fence. Figured it was just better to type it all in myself rather than leave the info either online, or stored on my hard drive.

Also, doesn't Gator leave some of those adware files lying around to clutter things up? It's been mentioned once or twice before but there's a little program called opt-out that searches for them and removes them... I think Gator left some behind when I uninstalled it a while ago.

Alien Infestation Prevention

For the record, please note that aluminum foil caps absolutely do *not* prevent aliens from infesting your brain.

For that, you must use genuine, certified tin foil. Nothing else will work.

damn, well that explains the little green people wearing Elvis outfits that keep knocking on my door. Better invest in some heavy duty tin foil...

Greg, the tin foil won't help with that. Alas, those are my in-laws.

I try to keep them under control, but...

funny -

I thought that only shaving your head, slathering yourself in lard and wrapping your entire body with industrial-strength saran wrap was the solution to Alien-infestation.

Ah well. Beats a full-body wax anyday.

Neil, I'm going to rigorously test that approach out later tonight.

I'll get back to you if it works out.

But say, haven't I seen something like this in Penthouse?

etLux -

Just remember what I said about the "full-body wax" effect...

If you change your mind, make sure to put a large, pliable object (like a large rubber ball, or a sugared ham) into your mouth to muffle the screams.

Okay, I've got the flu and my brain is a bit wacko.. I'll stop foisting bizarreness on the board.

I think I'll go lie down in a cool, damp room now.

Get well, Neil.

And just to bring this back on topic, I believe this is the method of alien-infestation prevention that is favored by many people who use...

GATOR.
