Is 2checkout doing any better?

I am looking at possibly using the payment processor 2checkout. I have done extensive reading on the archives of this site, and have found a lot of people talking about problems getting their money (among other things). However, almost all of these are from 1.5 years and more ago. Has everybody just stopped using them, or have they cleaned up their act?

I'm interested mostly in whether you're getting your funds twice every month, reliably, (I'm in US), and if they are pulling Paypals often (freezing/stealing money for no good reason with no explanation). I know about chargebacks and the risks those pose, and that the credit card companies don't care about merchants.

Any other problems experienced are very helpful, too! Thanks in advance for any and all help?

NO NO NO get away from 3rd party, you're in the US, it shouldn't be hard to get yourself a merchant account, cdgcommerce who is on this forum all the time is who I got one of mine through, no signup fee, and I think the "basic" monthly fee is around $50 which is easy to recoup in saved per transaction fees.

Thanks for looking out for me, but I have to go 3rd party. No question about that. I've combed through MANY 3rd party sites, and 2checkout is one of the very few options. However, if they haven't cleaned up their act since the problems in the past, I don't think they're worth it!

Why do you have to go 3rd party? If your volume is that small maybe only using Paypal would suit you for a while?

Thanks for the kind words, Gary.

I would also agree that if you are in the U.S., getting your own merchant account is the best way to go in most cases. (Obvious exceptions being if the merchant has been placed on MATCH, is under 18 or not a U.S. citizen, etc.)

I'd also agree that PayPal is a good option for merchants who have only sporadic and small volume. 2Checkout is also an option to consider but I'd likely go for PayPal if given a choice between the two.
