real audio streaming

i am finding it very hard to find a host that offers access to a real audio streaming server. most of the affordable hosts just offer http/progressive streaming which is not appropriate for my site. we are currently hosted by interland, thru which we do get streaming audio. however we have a very old plan and are considering switching hosts. we currently pay about $60 per month. is it reasonable to expect good hosting w/ streaming server for this much or less per month?
cheers

I think that depends on how many slots you need.

What type of plan do you currently have?

what we have right now is quite a simple shared hosting plan comparable to many affordable plans i see offered by companies for $10 - $30 per month. the only thing that is different is that we get access to streaming which we dont use very heavily.
if you look at interland's website we pretty much have the advanced plan and we do not really use the full capabilities in terms of space and bandwidth.

I used to do alot of SMIL programming and used pnm and rtsp protocols. I had a couple streaming sites at OLM.net, they include RealServers in most shared hosting plans.

For 3rd party streaming, you could also look at playstream.com

You should be able to find hosts with shared plans that include REAL streaming for that same price range. As long as it is just the one domain, you should not have a problem finding a hosts within that pricing. Just make sure you look closely at what is included with the plan and make sure you have enough concurrent Streams to meet your needs.
