Recommended Dedicated Server
Hi,
Our company has a small/medium traffic website. Theres not a lot of stuff running on it besides a search engine. Were looking to transfer to a more realiable dedicated server from our current shared.
Looking to get the basic system ex.
2.0ghz
512k ram
30-60gig harddrive
Now whats the difference in managed and not. Wondering how much help managed servers do for you.
Main factor is uptime and reliablity. Looking to spend up to $125 a month if possible.
Any recommendations and comments be much appreciated thanks.

512k ram ain't going to get you very far
What is your level of comfort with running your own server? You certainly won't find a fully managed server in the $125 price range. Are you looking for windows, unix, control panel?

Thanks for the reply,
whats the minimum ram suggested?
Im looking to doing a linux server with cpanel. Ive setup linux servers with email before at home computers but I dont know how it is with dedicated servers? Does managed mean they handle updates and security patches?

You listed 512"k" ram if you had put 512meg then you would have been fine I was just making a crack at the typo....
Yes, you can certainly find a linux + cpanel box in that price range but they will be unmanaged, a fully managed provider would do kernel builds, script installs, package installs, updates, monitoring, and various other proactive work.

I would recommend www.cpcservers.net. If you need an IP: 69.26.211.178. That is our box with them.
They have some nice deals on celeron 2.4's.
