If the plural form is taken, would you.....
If you had a good name for your company, say, sfdomain.com and someone else had the plural form: sfdomains.com, would you still develop the singular sfdomain.com? is it too close to each other?

I wouldn't... unless the two industries were completely different.
For example, if I'm selling plumbing pipe and I have a website called pipe.com, and then someone else had the website called pipes.com, but they sold nice tobacco pipes (not the bong kind you stoners out there ), then I would probably think.. hey why not. Not much chance for the customers to get confused.
P.S. - Hi! fewcoin... long time - no talk!

How's it going 4solutions? haven't seen you in awhile, good to see you. Yep, when I registered these domains both versions were free. I got the idea recently to develop the domain and saw the plural form was taken 3 months after I got the singular. Now this may be coincidence but I checked another similar domain I registered at the same time and that too, someone had registered the plural exactly 3 months after I did.
Are you sure, someone or thing is not monitoring when you check out whois's for free domains? Makes me a bit suspicious!
Thanks!

You know, I've always wondered the same thing... but I prefer to be unsuspicious and think that great minds think alike.
I've also been one to register multiple names the minute I get an idea and then discard them later if the numbers don't add up for the venture. Domain name registrations are cheap. But trying to buy a domain name from a third party - very expensive, No?

I agree don' worry about the plural form. Your establishing your brand and that should not be of concern to you.

My bad for bringing back a dead thread, but I just happen to see this today: Googles.com vs. Google.com
Basically, Googles.com is a children's site that was registered two months before Google.com. After all this time (since 1997), Googles.com has filed a suit with the USPTO for a trademark infringement against Google.com. Just thought it was interesting and related to this discussion.

Nice article.
I kinda think that google is getting too territorial about that. The site is about some cartoons for kids, not a search engine stealing Google's users.
