Of all the FREE (as in use, I realize your supposed to buy IPB) forum software-s which do you like better?

You can do a search on the mboard and find many posts comparing IPB and phpBB.

I like IPB much more than phpBB. Stock phpBb seems way too un-userfriendly to me.

Personally I prefer phpBB. Why? It's easy to use, much more so than IPB in my opinion. It also doesn't try to leap out of my screen and make dinner for me as well as do the washing up.


The thing is though, you cannot choose your own favourite forum board based on our opinions or our thoughts. Each person is very different, and while some people will want one thing, the other person will want another.

The best way to find out which is best for you is to try them all out and see for yourself.

phpBB, IPB is trying to do more than it's meant for. All I want in a forum is it to work, I don't want an arcade or a shop. phpBB is nice and simple.

I have always believed that phpbb has much more mods.

Besides, phpbb is opensourced. The community is always there to give you support when you run into problems, people are nice and friendly.

IPB is run with commercial interest. There is no garantee that invision won't charge for the software in the future. Besides, I do not like people bugging me to pay. I either pay them to shut up, or take it free from a happy giver
