Got this from a site

...STRUCTURAL DAMAGE...
THE MAJORITY OF MOBILE HOMES WILL BE SEVERELY DAMAGED NEAR WHERE THE
STORM MAKES LANDFALL. HOUSES OF POOR TO AVERAGE CONSTRUCTION WILL
HAVE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE...INCLUDING PARTIAL WALL COLLAPSE AND ROOFS
BEING LIFTED OFF. MANY WILL BE UNINHABITABLE. WELL CONSTRUCTED HOUSES
WILL INCUR MINOR DAMAGE TO SHINGLES...SIDING...GUTTERS...AS WELL AS
BLOWN OUT WINDOWS.
PARTIAL ROOF FAILURE IS EXPECTED AT INDUSTRIAL PARKS...ESPECIALLY TO
THOSE BUILDINGS WITH LIGHT WEIGHT STEEL AND ALUMINUM COVERINGS. OLDER
LOW RISING APARTMENT ROOFS MAY ALSO BE TORN OFF...AS WELL AS
RECEIVING SIDING AND SHINGLE DAMAGE. MUCH OF THE GLASS IN HIGH RISE
OFFICE BUILDINGS WILL BE BLOWN OUT. AIRBORNE DEBRIS WILL CAUSE
DAMAGE...INJURY...AND POSSIBLE FATALITIES.

sounds too bad to be true?

The odds of them being "destroyed" or even recieving severe damage are very slim. This storm isn't going to be strong enough to take out a building of data center quality. But, if the DC's don't have their "duckies in a row" and haven't made sure their back-up systems are working properly, they could see some power outages.

BW providers in the affected areas could also see some problems if they are not prepared with backup power standing by at switching stations, etc.

I would expect that DC's and providers in Florida would already have readiness plans for tropical systems since it is a common thing every year.

I think the only problems will be electrical problems. If I was in Florida and had a datacenter there you can beat I would be buying gallons of gas to crank up the generator so when the power does go down my customers would still be up.

I would also probably take some other measures such as a sandbag wall just in case flooding becomes a problem.

I would presume most of them (like Peak10) are hurricane rated - I don't think you'll find there are any problems.

There's no such thing... It exists only in a salesman's world.

Well... I know Sagonet itself is built like a building within a building... So I don't think it will have any problems. Becides:

<< WELL CONSTRUCTED HOUSES
WILL INCUR MINOR DAMAGE TO SHINGLES...SIDING...GUTTERS...AS WELL AS
BLOWN OUT WINDOWS. >>
Not blown away servers

I wonder about other Tampa DC's such as Hiya and I think Hivelocity.

I'm still glad I live in Cincinnati. (Of corse a tornado wen't through my community suddenly 4 years ago, so I have no clue why I think its safe )
