Its happened. Time to get a new computer.
Alright,
After all the posts here, I've finally decided to get a new computer.
I'm looking for value and power. I know these 2 things do not sit hand in hand.
All I'm looking for is a nice desktop which has a good video card. Basically for someone who likes to get their work done and likes to play the hot new games on the market .
Does anyone know where I can a computer at the best price?
I know your knowledge is far greater then mine.
Thanks guys/gals!
Edit- Not looking for a specific brand. Doesn't need to be a brand thats heard of either!

Hehe,
eBay, has been pushed down the list a little, but I'll check there for sure.
Anywhere else?

Another cool place to get computers is at a computer show. They have one about once a month, they have a bunch of people who will build you custom computers for real cheap in one day, 90 warenty.
Check and see if you have any near you.

If you have a "Micro Center" near you; they will have a great deal. Their "Power-Spec" brand is great. Good hardware, and a great price. I got my desktop (p4 3.06 /c HT) for 599 (after an EASY ||non complicated|| $100 mail in rebate).

You could build your own, it's very easy and you can save a LOT of money doing it yourself.

Greg,
I'm really interested in this. I've been told so many things about you got to wear special shoes, you'll zap the ram, etc. So I've been terrified of doing it. Any idea where I can start to atleast look at building a system?
Thanks,

First off, there are some possibilities of frying things with static electricity, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you are working on carpet doing stupid things to cause static electricity, but if you are working on carpet, I suggest you get a special bracelet, you can get them at local electronics stores for about $5 USD and you just put it around your rist and ground it out on something, and you won't have any problems. check out http://forums.anandtech.com for some good advice on building it, and check newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com for some good deals on parts. You can check reviews of certain parts at tomshardware.com or hardocp.com
Hope I helped, and good luck in building your first machine.
Greg

I'm sure there are a bunch of people here that can help you. Somebody earlier today was offering to build a pc for $25, I'll try and remember who it was.
Also, there are a bunch of pc building forums.
Who knows, maybe there is a "Building computers for dummies"

Well... Most economically conscious people would start by looking at motherboards and stuff at www.zipzoomfly.com
I for my part would start the fun with www.colorcases.com and start dreaming about how cool you want it to look.

Also I forgot to include this, check out http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/ for a VERY nice guide on building your first PC, it is written by a very senior member of the anandtech forums that I linked you too. You don't need someone else to build it, it's not that hard to do yourself.
