Hostway.com
Have anybody some experience with hostway.com? Are they really so reliable and stable as they say?

A search of the forum should give you several reviews about them...

I was with Hostway until very recently. In around five years with them, I don't think I ever had a problem. OK, I rprobably had to submit 2 trouble tickets, but I don't recall what they were
The reason I left them is that I consider them expensive. I was paying $13.95 per month (paying annually) for 200Mb disk space (now 300Mb). No PHP, no MySQL.
I'm now paying $10 per month, no contract, for a 4Gb reseller account with all the usual cPanel/WHM goodies.
Hostway seem to focus on business accounts, and for that, I'd recommend them. 100% uptime is not my major requirement. If it is for you, Hostway is a good bet, but you poay for the privilege.

Thank you, Toby.
One more question: do they allow subdomains and parked domains and do they provide anonymous FTP?
I have also some doubt about their support: I've mailed them twice and get no answer till now

No subdomains or parked domains - it is a fairly bare-bones service until you start spending cash. I'm pretty sure they did anonymous FTP though, but you'll have to confirm that with them - I never used it .

New a problem with Hostway's Hosting. I wuld NOT recomend you register domains through them however as you will not have as much control or options available to you like maybe godaddy or registryfly...

I think there is more focus on websites that do business at Hostway. What is your hosting budget and what kind of websites you intend to do?
If it is a personal website, you can find cheaper shared hosting accounts other that Hostway. But if you want good and reliable host, Hostway can be considered. It all depends on your hosting requirements.
Please research and read more reviews of the particular host that you interested before you sign up. Once your domain and data are transferred, there is a lot of time wasting to go through if you decide to cancel with the new host.

Likewise -- don't use them for domain registration.
I had used them for domain regisrations (on a number of personal sites for myself and friends) and if you ever want to change the IP's for your nameservers you will have to submit a support ticket. Talk to level one support then get referred to level 2 support. Wait 24 to 72 hours for level two support to get back to you (last time they never responded and just made the change after about 4 days (2 days wait for them -- 2 days wait for prop.).
I haven't heard anything bad about their hosting but I don't know.

See the Disk traffic Unlimited? That's reason eoungh for me not to use them. Fact is that the traffic is limited as there's no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. Worst of all you don't really know the limit - they do, and that's what "unlimited" really means.
Go with a host that tell you clearly what you can really use.
Good luck!

My experience with hostway:
So i decided to try them out, went on to register a domain with them. I thought ill add a POP3 account since i had a bit of money to spend. I was later to learn that the domain has already been registered by someone else, Fair enough mistake, since i know how these domain scripts work. But that didnt stop them from charging me a setup fee and first month worth of services.
I emailed them telling them my situation, they were very rude about it and made it clear theres no refunds, and if i wanted to terminate my contract im going to have to pay a fee.
At this point i was very frustrated, i was under the impression that i registered a domain with addon extras, so what good are the addons?
I decided to ring them up, (from australia), and they were very understanding and promised me to give me a full refund.
Alas, the refund came in, and admitted their mistake.
Also apologised about the rude email.

I concur with above. I left for the same reasons...it got too expensive. Many of the solutions they have are all derivative from open source, so if you are developer, you can do the same without paying a monthly fee to use their versions.
However, they are an excellent company in terms of hosting support and almost no downtime. Was there for a very long time (4-5 yrs) and I think we had 1 downtime.

Very reliable. I've had subsim.com with them for 3 years, no downtime and no real problems. They have upped their bandwidth and storage a few times to stay competitive. I highly recommend them (feels good to offer praise to a worthy company).
