Mhash issue

Hi,
Mhash is installed on my server running PHP 4.3.8 however I can't my mhash scripts to work. Is anyone with a server running PHP 4.3.8 with mhash installed able to get this script to work

<?php
$input = "what do ya want for nothing?";
$hash = mhash (MHASH_MD5, $input);
print "The hash is ".bin2hex ($hash)."<br />\n";
$hash = mhash (MHASH_MD5, $input, "Jefe");
print "The hmac is ".bin2hex ($hash)."<br />\n";
?>

Does anyone know there is something I need to change to get this to work?

Running under the same PHP version (with mhash installed) didn't work for me either.
On PHP 4.3.2 it works perfectly.

The PHP 4.3.8 system is a RedHat 9.0.
4.3.2 is running on a SuSE 8.0 workstation.
