Which OS you suggest BSD or Fedora for hosting.

Thanks.

I'd recommend you go with the one you're more familiar with.

Why just Fedora, and not other linux distros?

You might be better off with RHE

RHE would cost an individual a slight fortune.

over the two mentioned i'd recommend BSD.

Freebsd: Good:fast, lightweight, has many ports, and stable (4.9) - Bad: More configuring befor stable, Pretty early version (5.*)

Fedora: Good:latest linux kernal, people trust linux, works well for internet hosts (many use it) - Bad: Earlier version, some people think it's clunky, some people like more developed and more "user freindly" operating systems...

I say if it is for clients then go with fedora (especially if u do low-budget hosting), If it is for freinds or more knowledgable customers tat can use the command line then go with freebsd
If u have customers, you can ask them...

I have not seen much speed difference between fedora and freebsd. Most of the time people who choose freebsd are more knowledgeable in the *nix enviroment and do a better job of optimizing there OS for the task.

Just choose which one you are more comfortable with imho

FreeBSD all the way. The 4.x branch is rock solid and dead simple to maintain with the complete ports tree and buildworld.

Fedora doesnt even come close to FreeBSD when it comes to stability and security. Remember Fedora is a bleeding edge development OS. The FreeBSD 4.x has been maturing now for years and only getting better with age.

FreeBSD, to put it bluntly, it's just plain better (for reasons aformentioned).

FreeBSD without a doubt. The ports system is your friend.

I think it really depends on what you're trying to do. We use GenToo and we've been able to stuff quite a bit...our only bottlenecks are our processors.

I'd suggest FreeBSD if serving up webpages is all you're planning. (That and Fedora, although has stable releases, is still very much a work-in-progress)

If you choose to keep a linux based OS, Debian is a much better choice then Fedora. Should have added that to my post above.
