Creating Nameservers

Hello,

Can someone please tell me the procedure for creating nameservers in WHM.

I want to be able to create everyting From WHM for my resellers. I dont want to create the nameserver records from a registrar.

What do i have to edit in the DNS Zone for the domain?

This is what I am doing right now and it doesnt seem to work.
I dont know if it is right or not. please dont laugh at me if it isn't.

For example ill use demo.com:

The picture is attached to the post.

Please advise.

Thanks
Hussain baig

Well the short answer is that no matter what, you still need to create the nameservers in your registrar. Just setting your DNS is NOT enough to make it a nameserver.

Login to WHM

You can click on "Manage Nameservers IP" and let the system reserve the 2 IPs for you.

However if you want to reuse IPs already used by other nameservers, just go to "edit a DNS zone" and add a few records:

1. Your NS record

yourdomain.com. 14400 NS ns1.yourdomain.com.
yourdomain.com. 14400 NS ns2.yourdomain.com.

(Note that ns1 and ns2 can be anything but must match what you registered in the registrar as nameservers)

2. Your A record

ns1 14400 A 123.123.123.123
ns2 14400 A 123.123.123.124

(Note that ns1 and ns2 must match your NS record in step 1, and that the IPs must match those that you use to register the nameservers in your registrar)

Save and you are done.
