Small Hosting Co's - Unite for coverage?

I am a small host.. What many of you here consider a bad host due to my being a 1-Man show.

I know each of my customers my first name and many of our work is done on a handshake. I do not offer "open" public hosting as I host only the projects I build and I host them with the same level of dedication as if they were my very own.

I know I'm not alone in this.. There has to be a few other mature folks out there running 1 - 10 servers as a 1 man show and happy doing it.

My concept is this. Lets say 10 of us get to gether to cover each others back. Nagios each others network for various locations and if one of us needs to go on vacation then the others can keep an eye on the network and get in there and fix probs etc.

In a worst case scenario one of use passes away or gets struck ill and can't work anymore. I know I would turn in my grave if the people that put thier trust in me were left hanging. Thus it would be wise to have a " collegue " or 2 that I could pass my customers to in the event of my untimely demise.

No intention of uniting or sharing business beyond I know someone whos good at that etc... Just a few 1 - Man operations watching each others back and sharing horror storries over a private message board etc....

About me..

I am a 31 year old father of 4 who is full time employed in the Telecom industry and I spend nearly all my free time with my server building up my dream which will one day be a 10 - 15 server operation...

Althought small time - I am very very dedicated to my network, and clients and focused on a realistic growth.

I have been hosting for 4 years now and have not let one customer down in that 4 year time. (my clients don't post here *grin*)

Anyone else like me out there interested in exchanging emails etc?

As a disclaimer with no dis-respect indended. Please no very young I just got my server from Ev1 and am a hosting company now folks please. Existing companies with existing clients.

Best regards..

Ryan.

You might want to look at JSF (Joint Support Forum) www.jointsupportforum.com which consists of webhosts and resellers supporting each other clients .. anonymously of course.
