where do i learn to manage my own dedicated server ?


i have basic knowledge of linux. by no means a guru. what do i have to master to in order to manage my own servers ? i have plenty of linux resource books around the house to learn from as well as the vast array of documentation on the net.

I'd recommend keeping notes on everything helpful that you read.

Some things to make sure you know:
- tar
- how to restart FTP, Apache, your control panel, et cetera
- how to see who is on your server
- how to check the load
- how to kill processes
- how to move between directories
- how to copy and move files
- how to use vi

and much more.. that's just a start.
