Netfirms' advantage or a reseller account?
Hi,
I am planning to open 3 new sites and want to host them all in one hosting account.
I was thinking to use Netfirms' Advantage package with ;
1000 MB (1 GB) of Disk Space
50 GB Monthly Data Transfer
which is quite enough for me.In their faq, they say I can host different domains adding a PHP code;
Netfirms faq , related page
Then some friends adviced me to get a reseller account.
Now, netfirms package is 10$/mo, I am not sure if I can find a reseller account with same advantages for that price from a trustful company.
What do you think?

A reseller account will do fine if you want more management over your domains.

Sure you can find a few starter Reseller accounts for that amount, or very near to it.
It will allow you more control and options.

Thanks,
So, which companies are well-known for starter reseller packages, I really have no information on that subject and need recommendations.

The way Netfirms allows you to host different domains is by detecting the domain name when a user hits your web page using PHP. This is similar to name-based virtual hosting but different in that you need to modify your code to make sure that certain parts of your web site run only when accessed from a certain domain name, which is not as webmaster-friendly as having a simpler directory system for different domains.
Try the HOST QUOTE feature on WebHostingTalk to find a reseller host. Dan's whreviews.com also features trustworthy hosts.

You probably won't find a good reseller acount with that much BW for $10 a month (unless prices have dropped a lot since I last researched prices for a new account). Seems very cheap so most likely there is some corner cutting going on.
I pay $20 for BlueWho's 1Gb/15Gb account and consider that to be decent value, esp given the high level of after-sales support (the usual corner that cheaper deals have cut!).
You will probably find a reseller account much better for what you are after though - that's what I use mine for (I host a number of domains for myself and family+friends). The netfirms approach sounds like domain parking with PHP to redirect users to a different folder on entry to your sites, which could turn into a PITA if your needs grow.

if you haven't gone with them, I seriously recommend against them.
I used to use their business-class sister company Nexx and it was terrible. Their service was terrible, their support was terrible, etc.
Finally the last straw was that one day a moderator of my forum called me up and said, "what are you doing with the webpage?" I hadn't been doing anything. Somebody/something at Nexx had initialized my account so that the site was gone, all that remained was a link to the administrative features, and they were FULLY ACCESSIBLE! No password required!?
It was totally ridiculous. That night I tried calling in several times to their so-called 24/7 tech support. I kept getting a message saying that their business hours were 9-5 or something and to call back during those hours or leave a message. So I left a message. A couple hours later I got a call from them saying, "oh yeah, we had a glitch and are working on it. Your site will be back up by tomorrow." Pretty big frickin glitch if you ask me.
Even before that I found myself calling them constantly because of other problems. There was a time at which they didn't even know where their own mysql server was. I got one tech telling me that it was localhost, then another gave me an address, then another said that the previous one was wrong and it was localhost, then finally some guy gave me the right address. I seriously wonder if these guys can even remember where they park their cars on a daily basis? Very disorganized.
I finally pulled the plug and had them prorate my year-comittment. I ended up paying a lot more (the amount per month normally), but I just couldn't deal with them anymore.
I switched to another host who has been great to me. I've only had to call them to ask them how to do things. My service has been solid and really I have little to complain about. However, I personally have been wanting to move to hosting myself, so I will eventually be finishing with them too, but for reasons that aren't their fault.
Anyways though, I highly recommend you seek an account with another host if you haven't comitted to them yet.

Thank you all for your interest and detailed messages.
I signed-up with insiderhosting.com for multiple domains hosting and very happy with their interest at the moment.
Best,
