What's the difference/benefits of choosing Authorize.Net over CDGGateway (or the other way around)? Also, does CDGGateway integrate with ModernBill? Or is it just using authorize.net's gateway underneath?

ImLagging, I'd begin by saying that Authorize.Net and CDGGateway are both very solid systems.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of Authorize.Net is its wide 3rd party support. For instance, if you are using ModernBill - you'd definitely want to select Authorize.Net as the gateway.

I would say that the advantage of CDGGateway is that it has some nice features - like automated recurring billing - that are included free with it, whereas Authorize.Net charges extra for. So CDGGateway is a little more cost effective as well.

With respect to Jeff's question, our Chargeback Defender system provides you with an e-mail notification of any chargebacks that hit your account.

Thus, instead of waiting from 1-2 weeks for a mailed notice of this - at which time the funds have already been debited and it may be rapidly approaching the rebuttal deadline... you find out within approximately 1 business day.

The end result is that you know right away when a chargeback is coming through and then you can use our online rebuttal system to create a response to state your case in the proper format. This helps merchants to respond to their chargebacks much faster and increase their chances of winning more disputes.

In addition, our system automatically performs rebuttals in certain cases - such as that of a chargeback initiated against a sale that was already credited. You, as the merchant, don't need to do anything in that case - our system will automatically reverse the chargeback in favor of you and automatically perform the rebuttal on your behalf.

The Chargeback Defender system is accessible through our included Merchant Portal system which is where you also can view your real-time bank-level merchant reports at all times.

One last question from me. You say that the total monthly cost is $25. If I was to go with Auth.net, I won't be charged the extra fee if the fees from my sales don't equal the $25 that they normally talk about? There are no other additional/hidden fees?

I guess I'm just too used to there always being extra fee's.

I think what you are referring to is a "monthly minimum."

Many merchant providers charge a monthly minimum of $20-25/month IN ADDITION to fees like the gateway fee and statement fee.

With our program, there is NO monthly minimum whatsoever. Nor is there any annual fee, nor is there any cancellation fee.

So let's say you had a month with $0 sales - you would pay just $25 total. NOT $25 plus $25 = $50 as with most typical programs.

Just wanted to thank cdgcommerce for being honest. Their system is very good but since I am using Modernbill I will use autherize.net. Thanks for letting WHT members know that cdgcommerce may not always be the solution.

If I read correctly, you can use either Auth.Net or CDG's gateway when you sign up with CDG.

That is correct. To clarify - we do provide either Authorize.Net or CDGGateway as the gateway, along with our merchant accounts.

And we do have many merchants who use the ModernBill software along with a merchant account and Authorize.Net gateway from us.

So... per my earlier message, if you are wanting to use MB, then you would select Authorize.Net on the gateway pulldown option on our online WHT promo application.

If you are wanting to build your own custom application and/or use our free built-in recurring billing, then you would instead select CDGGateway from the gateway pulldown option.

But either way, we can provide the merchant account and the appropriate gateway for your needs.
