Admin work

i see that some hosting provider charging a fee for admin work, usually they charge from $50 to $75 per hour.

my question is: what kind of admin work that a hosting provider should charge?

Depends on the provider... there isn't a set-in-stone type of administrative work every company does for whatever they charge.

They actually should list the things that they will do for you just so that people know exactly what they buy.

If they don't list exactly what they do, then you need to ask the company.

I don't think that customers should be charged for basic work. If they need something that will take over an hour to do, then it's a whole other story.

Greetings:

As stated, it will vary from provider to provider.

In my opinion, work related to ensuring advertised services and features work should carry no charges.

Most solid providers adhere to that opinion.

Furthermore, the charge by providers can vary from less than the original poster stated to a lot more.

Lastly, in terms of our company, we use the 15-minute rule for existing clients (as it relates to hosting, not managed services). If it takes 15-minutes or less (and the client is not taking advantage of it), no charge.

Thank you.
