Is this a fraud order? Can someone give tips.

I just recently receieved an order but worldpay alert me with caution. The domain name is minhtuanhn.com apparently hosted before at hostway. The domain of email add is @spymac.com. Paid for a full year though.

I tried using maxmind credit card fraud detection http://www.maxmind.com/app/ccv2 and the results is high risk.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you try calling the customer? If you can't get a hold of them by phone, I would consider it fraud. It's not worth the risk, especially paying for a full year.

The Ip is indeed from Vietnam. So if the guy is claiming to be from the US but his IP says he's ordering from Asia then it's most probably a fraud order.

Call him, leave a message. Send an email saying that you tried to call and are waiting for a call back to verify the contact info and setup the account. It is not out of the ordinary to need a phone number to get in touch with the client.

It is fraud. Simple as that.

    Some good signs:

MaxMind is an excellent tool. But not perfect.
If the phone number goes to voice mail and no call back, cancel the order.
If the domain is in vietnamese, and the address or name American then
    it is most likely fraud.
Viet Nam is the hosting fraud capital of the world. 95% of my orders from
Viet Nam are fraud (going by IP)

They are also very clever, they sometimes use Proxies in the same city
as the cardholder. Often these are trojans running on the customers
    very own PC.

Keep in mind, smarter to lose a real order than accept a fraud order.

I would say ALL from Vietnam are fraud but there is a VERY high chance. Ask them to pay by something that cant be chargeback like E-Gold or say moneybookers.

    Yeah Dan is right.

I do not even verify orders from Vietnam. I am so used to their fraudsters that I even created an email template for them saying that the order was considered fraudlent. lolol

Just delete the customer file and voila. After a few attempts they will leave you alone and try to do it at another host.

We verify every order by phone before we setup an account. Since we started this last year we've had no fraud signups. If we don't get a response within 24 hours we automatically cancel the transaction. We've never had anyone who didn't call back telephone us and ask "hey where's my account?"

Phoning customers that look suspicious is OK, but every client --a little over the edge. I always use www.melissadata.com to cross refrence address, phone, and then Track the IP and see if the ISP is even available in the area of the order. For example: If you get an order from UK who supplies:
    mister blah
    123 the-street NW7 NE5
    TheRidgeway, London, UK 293928
    31 202 309 2089

    and their IP is: 24.209.*.*
You could assume it is fraud:
Their IP reflects the use of Road Runner --- Not availble in UK
The Phone country code does not reflect the location of the address.
The address is Void at melissadata.

(Can you tell I don't get many orders from the UK.... im confused as to how they label addresses)

Basically that is an OK way to detect fraud... Also, usually it gives you an address when you use paypal.
