what is the risk of being penalized for the links being from backlinking networks?

I'm in my second year of doing this, and don't know of any penalty associated with simply building links. Search Engines will penalise sites for what they do on their own pages - not for what other webmasters put on theirs. Google is pretty explicit as to what is specifically unacceptable in its own Webmaster Guidelines, and britecorp absolutely does not practice any of those techniques.
