Hmm.

ServerMatrix.net is nice but I have heard that they have lack of support. Ev1 has a better support though, but they don't manage your server. I Recommend GNAX.

You may also consider some of the resellers of ThePlanet. They usually offer larger support and management packages. The SM support is not that bad actually - they do what's stipulated, their support techs are also very knowledgeable and social.

If you are confident you can run the server yourself any of the places mentioned above will do. Don't make the mistake of thinking "Managed" means they will run it for you because they most certaintly will not. With that being said some of those places do offer a higher level managment service usually at a nice rate per month to help run things on your end.

Other then that you can use the host quote tool at the top of the page and provide what you require.

What is the different between managed or non managed?

I'm just looking for a server than can handle around 4 or 5 sites with alexa ranking of 10,000 to 40,000. I have 2 sites that use access with about 40,000 unique visitors per month.

I also want this place to provide backup in case of any failure.

Thanks,
Linda

Unmanaged servers basically means that you are responsible for all software based configuration, installation and troubleshooting. The web host is just responsible for hardware faults and network faults. Managed servers usually comes with some degree of hands-on service which may include to the minimum monitoring your server via ping to determine if it is up and to apply standard kernel or OS patches to as much as troubleshooting your server for you.

Backups are usually your responsibility on a dedicated server, however some can supply backup solutions as an extra service but the responsibility to backup is still yours.

You can get 10Gb Backup FTP Space at GNAX with Unlimited Bandwith for GNAX Servers, not counted against your bandwith.

If you didn't know GNAX is a Datacenter is atlanta
