    AOL Blocked IP (Nocster)

    Hey,

I just wanted to know, how many people had received bounced messages from AOL about this?

SMTP error from remote mailer after initial connection:
    host mailin-03.mx.aol.com [205.188.159.249]: 554- (RTR:BL) The information
presently available to AOL indicates that
554- this server is being used to transmit unsolicited bulk e-mail to AOL.
    554- Based on AOL's e-mail policies at
    554- http://postmaster.info.aol.com/guide...tandards.html, AOL cannot
554- accept further e-mail transactions from this server. Please have your
554- ISP/ASP contact AOL to resolve the issue at 703.265.4670.
    554

Seems like the customer who used this Server before sent "Spam", now I have to deal with it

Anyways, I wanted to know if more people had the same?

    Take Care
    ~Francisco

    That link doesn't even work!

Also, that is my area code (703). I suppose that number is their offices in Reston.

Is reverse dns setup on the server? If not, get that setup. If the block isn't removed within 24-48 hours you can call AOL and discuss the issue with them. Once discussing it with them the block will likely be removed with 24-48 hours.

    Yes,

Reverse DNS is Enabled. It weird thing is that my client says that eMailing @AOL never worked. So the previous customer that Nocster had on that IP might had sent the spam...

AOL has very good 24/7 Postmaster department, they will be able to help you better than anyone on WHT can.

Make sure your PTRs are set before callling them though, otherwise they get annoyed.

Well, what's funny with AOL's mailserver is that if say 5-10 duplicate emails are sent to various AOL member's, it blocks the IP. So say for example a customer runs a fairly busy vbulletin forum or php nuke site, and has email authentication turned on. You stand no chance at not being blocked by AOL. It's somewhat ridiculous, but with the way spam is lately and how everyone hates, it's almost necessary.

But like I said before, call AOL. They'll help you out, although you'll probably get stuck on hold for about 20 minutes.

    Oh, well thanks

I didn't know that if you sent 10-15 duplicate eMails to various AOL addresses they will ban you. I learned something interesting today

I will call AOL later. Thanks a buch
