I find openwebmail.org is great and can be tweaked to your systems needs.

Have no experiance of this under Cpanel though.

i think so im not sure. there are colour themes within the system but to custom it to your site im not sure :-s i think you can.

We're starting to use Cerberus for our email handling. Its a great help desk solution, but the newer versions also include support for spam prevention and what not.

Yes, it is possible. I have cPanel servers and I can comment only on cPanel servers. If you have a different control panel, my comment may not hold good . I have installed Squirrelmail so that my clients can access it directly without going to cPanel. Also their vhost plugin allows you to personalize each and every virtual host you use. The only problem is that my clients have to log into cPanel to change password because the cPanel Password changer plugin can be used for only one domain.
