    can the jobs command show PID numbers?

    can the jobs command show PID numbers?

    if so, whats the switch?

    You should try using the man command

    man command

    example

    man netstat

    This will give you the information you are looking for the majority of the time

    i dont think ive got the man files installed on my red hat box. when i type man jobs, i get a super short listing. Looks nothing like past man outputs ive seen.

    jobs is a builtin in the bash shell, so it doesn't have its own man page. "help jobs" will answer your question.
