This should have been considered a user level job ? Any reason why you cannot do it yourself as since you did say it is a simple job which would only take 5 minutes to do. Why wait for someone else to do when you are supposed to do it yourself ?

    how big is this database?

I think angelnetworkz is not responsible for this, they only update kernel etc.

    Well, that's a... valid... excuse...

We are talking about a dedicated server here, right ? If that is the case, you should have root access to the machine and with that, you most definitely could do anything and everything from there. Basically you have the same access as with AngelNetworkz to the server. If they can do it then there is no reason why you cannot do it unless you are trying to say you do not know how to do it and that in itself would be a valid response or if you do not actually have a dedicated server.

If there is a max upload timeout, you should be able to modify the configuration to allow a greater time frame.

I don't think angel networkz is here to blame. They are suffering from growth sickness. Also your request is very low in the pile. What would you rather do? Spend time fixing a broken server whos been offline for 20 hours or do the database thing? I'm sure they would fix it in the end.

I tend to concur, offering full management on that many servers is bound to cause some bottlenecks

Phoebs I ve replied my answer in PM
The reason i said it because we have few clients who have servers with angelnetwork. And they do praise them as well and 2 of them mention that AngelNetwork will provide fully managed and everything....

you could even do it "manually" with phpmyadmin (cut the file in smaller pieces or paste/execute 100-200 lines/commands each time)...

Sorry for butting in and this is not going to help..

I think its not a good thing to tell your clients your problem with your your upstream.

Clients want solutions.. not hear your problems.

This is ridiculous. How can you blame a hosting company because you couldn't load a database. If at all your customers are facing any problem, it is due to your incompetence and definitely not due to AN. If you don't know how to handle a database, hire someone who can do it for you. Fully managed doesn't mean that they will even create your website. Even if AN had promised to help you on this, they must be going out of the way to do it. You cannot blame them for this.

I guess some people just dont know what does a manged server means!

Wow if AN is gonna help this guy I am gonna take a server from them and every problem I get PHP code, MySQL etc I am gonna give it to them to solve it

Actually a TRUE FULLY Managed provider WILL do all these for you.
    Example is
ServInt yes they will create website for you.
RackSpace yes they will create website for you.
Prohoster (before sold to carpathia may be still now) They will literaly not only create website but also create Emails , Mysql , IMporting DB , Moving sites , fixing minor db even Script debugging (upto an extent) they will do.

server4sale: Thanks. I didn't know that. I always thought "Fully Managed" shouldn't be taken literally and it is mainly upgrades and security patch installation. Thanks for the info.

  24. #24
server4sale sorry for my earlier post, But I again I thought AN did not do all those stuff, and using mysql basic commands he could have restored the db easily.
