ssh access, pico installation and webmail help!

Posted: Mon May 31, 2004 4:14 pm Post subject: webmail not working

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi,

    I have few minor questions?

    1) how do I provide ssh access(shell access) to my clients/others using Plesk?

    2) I wish to install pico editor. How do I go about doing?

    3) when I type www.mydomain.com/webmail squirrelmail box comes.

If I click anything I get this following error:

Warning: fsockopen(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known (is your IPV6 configuration correct? If this error happens all the time, try reconfiguring PHP using --disable-ipv6 option to configure) in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/imap_general.php on line 172

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:143 in /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/imap_general.php on line 172

can someone please help me (: Any help is appreciated.

    Regards Sammy

    1. Under setup for each domain you select what type of access to allow.

    2. Server wide or per client?

    3. How did you install Squirrel mail?

    webmail.mydomain.com works.

As for Squirrelmail I'm confused. I'm on the phone with SM over something else and they were confused.

You can use yum and www.atomicrocketturtle.com udpate to squirrelmail.

    www.rpmfind.net

Search PICO. If it's RHE an RH9 one should work okay.

    Thanks for your help

I have foundout how to provide ssh access but it is dangerous as the clients can see virtually everything.

I am using Red hat Enterprise Linux, Version3 as OS

Actually, if you set it right they can't.

The can only see inside of /home/httpd/vhosts/domain.com/

Which OS are you using? Pico is included with the pine package on many system. If you want a smaller alternative to pico, try using GNU/nano

See if nano is available. It's a pico clone with some nice added features.

    Hi Hiryuu,

How do I find whether nano is there or not?
If it is there then how do I install?
