IMS,
I just recently comissioned a logo from http://www.eagleimagery.co.uk for a new site.
You will see the designer on WHT as Eagle. Great job and very professional. Highly recommended.

Template Monster is also widely used and it's better to go to the newer smaller and less known guy with quality work in my eyes. Eagle has some nice logo development.

Template monster has good quality work, that's for certain, but the problem is it's so publicized and the work on there is copied quite a bit, resold etc. I would stay away from template monster and get something custom developed.

yes this is true. For website template no problem beacuse you can change any time but you must need unique logo. Which stay with you all life.

True. dont buy premade logos, no matter how cheap - your logo have to be unique.
I don't know how much you are willing to spend, but US$250-300 should buy you very good logo, optimized for web *and* print, together with design of business card, letterhead and envelope.

also, I believe, you do some customization before delivering the final logo. Plus, once sold, you don't sell that logo again. And most of your logos can be used in print - I've seen few premade logo libraries, and all of them are usable only for the websites...
