    Internet problems, crashing..etc

Anyone care to help? I cannot load Yahoo Messenger, or it crashes. if a movie plays in Internet Explorer (Windows Media Player) - it crashes IE. When opening chatrooms on MSN, it crashes MSN....any clues? sounds like a prob with applets, mind you this is a fresh IE with the Windows Updates all installed as well as Flash/WMP/etc

Sounds like a bad install ... if it's fresh then you won't mind reformating and reinstalling ...

Are you using the Google toolbar, or any other toolbar?

I had the Yahoo toolbar, but I uninstalled it. It was to keep rid of those popups.

It's a bad install or a flawed update of some software you're using. I had some of those problems back when I was using Win.

That may be why... I have heard of some mis-haps after uninstalling those toolbars. Check to see if any remnants remain on your hard drive from the toolbar, and check your registry (Start > Run > regedit) for any signs of the toolbar, too.

if you used yahoo or any other toolbar, go through the registry and wipe all of it out. uninstall doesn't do it all

Not sure what to remove, so I removed "Companion" from regedit..seems its .wmv's though, since a .mpg worked in WMP

    edit: still the same

Try doing some routine maintenance DiskClean / ScanDisk / Empty Windows/temp folder.

    Run Adaware and Spybot

Clean up registry with jv16 powertools or Regseeker

Restart and go to safemode and defrag the disk.

Repair IE by going to AddRemove / Microsoft IE / remove / Repair IE

[If you dont have any of the tools make a search in Google for download site. Before you clean up the registry create a restore point to be safe]

Weird, I just reinstalled it and now it's working. I cleaned it out and re-downloaded (8th time) and now it's working..hmm - how long will this one last.
