need to restart spamassassin after modifying rules?
Hi - I'm using a setup on many servers that is pretty much sendmail + mailscanner + spamassassin + sophos (mailscanner calls spamassassin and sophos)
My question is, if I modify /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf or place a new file in /etc/mail/spamassassin - do i need to restart mail scanner or are those config files re-read every time an email is processed (which would appear to be a waste of resources?)
ThanksAvi B

Assuming you are running spamd, you will need to restart it everytime you modify the rules.

Why don't you just restart the whole exim server with
service exim restart

Your reponse to DiBellaweb was unnecessary.
Arrogance is a non starter.

While I didn't try to come off rude, it is not like my post was a page long - I asked a straight forward question - DiBellaweb wrote a reply without even reading the thread.Avi B

Okay i thought it was exim because spamd is integrated into the exim restart command.

I'm sorry about that - If it came off as such, I didn't intend to be harsh...

Thank you for appreciating that most of us are here to help but also learn.
Still waiting to meet the person that knows it "all".
