How many servers does WHT use?
I am curious to know, how many servers are there under the courtesy of WHT?
Or actually, dedicated for the community?
And if they are more than one, how do you get them to integrate together?
I've been wondering about this for some time now.0

Our advanced hosting solution at RackSpace consists of a firewall in front of a Cisco load balancer unit. We have 5 web servers which are Dell PowerEdge 2650 boxes with 2 GIG of ram, dual 2.0 GHz Intel Xeon processors and 3 15000 RPM SCSI drives running Raid 5. Each site hosted connects to one of 3 seperate database servers over a backup network. Each database server is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 server with 4 GB ram, dual 2.0 GHz Intel Xeon processors with 3 15000 RPM SCSI drives running in a raid 5 configuration.0

I know its been said, but yet another answer from the state of the community:
6) The New WHT Hosting Infrastructure
A significant financial investment has been made in placing all of iNET’s web properties within a reliable, scalable and centralized hosting platform. WHT is now hosted on a load balanced environment. Behind a firewall sits a Cisco load balancer, which distributes traffic to iNET sites, including WHT, to a cluster of 5 web servers. Each of the web servers are tied to multiple database servers which store the databases which drive our sites. Additionally, we have a development/staging server, where any modifications to our properties are made and tested before being pushed out to all of the live webservers. And, as added protection against loss of data, our database servers are mirrored onto a backup database server at periodic intervals each day, and then stored on tape. The end result of this infrastructure is that we are able to keep all of our sites up and running quickly more of the time. Though we have experienced a few glitches along the way, the infrastructure has proven worthy, and when we do experience slowness or issues, it has generally been related to our ad serving set-up, which is currently being worked on. As an interesting note to our members, our hosting infrastructure for all of our sites, which includes 2 terrabytes of bandwidth per month, costs in excess of $20,000 per month - quality service does not come at a deep discount. How in the world do they stay in business with 20,000 a month in overhead. I doubt that all of there sites combined bring in more then $20,000 a month in revenue.

Think of the advertising value of seeing the rackspace image at the lower left of every WHT page. I know I personally have been working with them towards adding servers after chatting with them randomly after seeing their ad here.
You have to assume that they're not paying rackspace what a normal client would. Seems fair to me

Yip, I know film sites that are only 1/10 as popular as WHT that bring in 10K+ a month in advertising. So be easy to cover this with a network of very busy sites. :-)
