Yes, do a search on them. There are many, many complaints on them, particularly
    1) Staff giving information to wrong people
    2) Servers taking much longer than guarantee says to get setup
    3) Support extremely slow - even with simple reboot requests
    4) False advertising

I wouldn't recommend them because of number 4, false advertising. The other three issues that a lot of people complain about can be expected from someone charging $55/month for 1TB of transfer - the only thing I think is actually a reason not to use them is number 4, and possibly number 1 depending on what information they accidently give to the wrong people and how they resolve the problem...

You get what you pay for

We use Managed.com and so far had no problems.

I don't know anything about false advertising - maybe you'll like to share that with us.

They claim to have XO bandwidth - they do not have XO, and have not for a while now. I have a server there, and I'm not renewing it after this month.

There are/were plenty of documented instances of false advertising on their web site. Read some for yourself, there are quite a few posted in that thread...

Lots of people still love them, lots hate them. Not suprising due to their huge growth and bottom-of-the-barrel prices.

You get what you pay for but you shouldnt expect anything spectacular. You will get little downtime and varied support, if you know how to manage a server you should be fine.

mainarea, how do you know whether or not they actually do have XO bandwidth. From what I understand, they just setup that XO connection recently.

    Any way to verify this?

You can query BGP tables to find out who they are connected to. A simple tool for this can be found at http://www.fixedorbit.com/.

Managed.com only announced to AssertiveNetworks. They no longer have a connection to AS2828, which is XO - it was removed without notice a few weeks back & had not been up for very long.
