Anyone have any thoughts on whether WHT Premium leads is worth anything? Is that extra forum have anything cool in it? What about the host quotes, are they just tire kickers or do you somtimes get signups. Also is it possible to signup using paypal? I have a bunch of money their that I can't get to my bank account so I might as well use it rather then using my credit card. Thanks in advance guys.
Lets put it this way -- There are two leads catagories that I look at "Dedicated" and "Co-Location." Every morning i'll check the dedicated side of things looking for leads of persons wanting unmanaged service for anything greater than $100/mo on an unmanaged, non-Xeon box. Once every day or two a co-location lead will make its way through. Generally, nothing useful
Customers seem to think the Host Quote is a reverse auction for them to sit around and price check each and every one of us. I even had one guy e-mail me back after giving him a quote -- he had about 20 - 30 diffrent providers cc:'d into the e-mail asking if "anyone could do something cheaper." These customers do not care about quality, they care about price. The ones that are willing to pay a decent amount will generally limit responses to a single provider (eg.. "I'm looking for NAC resellers in NYC only")
Until iNet figures out a way to keep the reverse auction penny pinchers off the Host Quote, I wouldn't waste any money on it.
As somone who just signed up for leads, I agree that the leads are poor quality. I'll often click on a dedicated server lead in the $200-$300 price range only to find out that they want a dual Opteron with 2GB of RAM and 73GB RAIDed SCSI drives on a 10Mbit unmetered line... managed! In other words, they want us to buy a $4000 server and lease it out to them for $200/month. It's ridiculous.
There are a lot of bottom-feeders submitting leads requests, even in the Colo and Dedicated categories. I signed up mostly to get colo leads, but I've only found one useful one in the past week or so, and even then, who knows... competition is pretty cutthroat here and we don't do the cheapo stuff.
My opinion: Not worth it.

We have had quite a success with leads I have even spoken with some iNet staff and gave good feedback. I really feel leads and premium membership only benefit those who have flexibility with pricing and I think this is a general rule of thumb with any enterprise if your not getting good prices yourself how can you offer customer good service at good prices?
We can almost get 50% off any servers we purchase which is a excellent venue for us it's allowing us to expand rapidly.
This is just one that i like allot, unlimited domains and all for just $15/month with 500MB storage, 200GB yes, two-hundred BW, and unlimited everything else... quotes like this do not make sense what so ever... Even if you hada Gige Fiber connection with just cogent, you will still be losing money just on the connection itself...

dont know about any of the other stuff but i asked for a quote from host quote and got a few, i have actually signed up with one of the hosts that quoted me too so i spose yes you do get the odd sign up if i am anything to go by.......
I think that they should change the format into the "request forum" format, where only leads members can respond. That way, more people would be inclined to participate, and providers could berate the person about how stupid their requests are (or just try and educate them). The only lead my company ended up landing from that was 3 servers from a spammer. Great leads...
Also what you said sounds like a great idea, where we respond directly, we have two boxes to fill in, one with the quote which only the person who submitted the lead can read and another box so we can educate them as you said.
Spend your money elsewhere, leads are not worth it. I don't get why some folks building brand new websites on new domains feel they need 100GB traffic minimum for $10/month maximum cost to them either.
I look at the requests most days but hardly respond to any.
Basically a complete waste of CAD$114.70 will be what my accountant will tell me
