Mass Dedicated Company Review
Over the last year we've used a variety of dedicated hosting companies for at least 6 months + so I would like to share what we've found. I've put them in no particular order. I've rated them on network, hardware quality, normal support response times and emergency response times. All have a lead time of 1-2 days on new boxes unless otherwise mentioned.
Uses HE.net, Fermont and has had good uptime with no major complaints. A few little outages but nothing major. Hardware quality is ok, had a few failed hard disks but they were dealt with in a few days time frame, as we use RAID machine wasn't down so didn't push that hard. Support response is good and people are friendly.
Still on HE.net but have had more downtime with them that EGI. Little blibs again but a bit to common for my Liking. Support is true 24x7 and pretty quick but haven't had to use them that much. No idea on emergency response times as haven't needed it. Hardware quality looks good but we only have 1 box there. Support peeps are profesional.
A1 Hosting.com Colo. Never had any major network trouble with good download speeds. Bill knows his stuff and is willing to go that extra mile when needed. Normal support is a few hours which is fine. Emergency support is normally < 10 minutes so thumbs up there. Hardware quality is above average. Support very friendly.
Normal FDC. Network can be dogey. Hardware is ok. Support is ok. Pretty average. Emergency response is ok. Support is professionally detached
Friendly Support staff with quick turn around times. Network is ok but had a few outages but they are improving it so I will reserve final judgement. No complaints about hardware quality. Emergency response times are good. True 24x7 support. Support is friendly
Friendly support, but recently been a bit slower than I would like but are friendly. Network was average but finally with addition of XO has been a lot better over the last 3 weeks. Hope it keeps up. Hardware quality is high. Emergency response times are good
Just got a box yesterday so this is 1st Impressions. Quick setup (via 15minuteservers). This was a custom box so took an hour or so. Support response times are good, would prehaps like them to be a bit friendlier. However so far so good.
GNAX (via resellers)
Hardware quality is good with only 1 failure in a year. Support is friendly and helpful in an emergency. Normal support via resellers is good. Only remember 1 network problem. Generally happy there.
Stable network. Normal support is ok. Emergency support however is good and English isn't a problem. (They are a German Company). Hardware quality is good and good pricing.
Hope this helps some peeps
