    * question about virus

    i installed a anti virus program on my windows server. but i have one question. the anti-virus doesnt prevent viruses being delivered to mailboxes, although the server is being protected against viruses, will the virsues that people receive in their mailbox affect the server? or doesnt it affect the server it resides on until it is downloaded?

    The virus needs to be executed in order to do any damage - just storing it or accessing the textfile that holds the contents of the email isn't going to do any harm on the server.

    There are some commercial anti-virus solutions that will integrate with email servers like Exchange, but there are also many free solutions that are happy to integrate with your unix MTAs
