If I'm not mistaken, a license allows you to use any version of the software.

The version is not tied to the license, an active license would allow you to download the latest version from the members area, unless it's an owned license more than a year old and the $30 renewal for support + updates has not been updated.
I very much doubt anybody is going to "give" you a vBulletin license, considering they usually sell here for $90-$130 (ish) but good luck.Hyperconfused (™)
