Anyone know how to hide the sid?

I've got several apps, like phpbb, postnuke, and invision board that keep putting the sid in the urls as you navigate. Is there a good way to remove the sid from view? It seems to get indexed by search engines all the time.

Redhat 8.0 - cpanel - phpsuexec all installed.

Look into using mod rewrite: http://www.modrewrite.com/

Yes, I'm currently using mod rewrite, I just haven't found any syntax to hide it.

Why don't you mod the boards to not use sid if it is a guest user. I have seen mods like that for phpbb (not sure about the other programs)

But if you are proficient in coding, that could possibly be done.

You might also want to check your php.ini to make sure session.use_trans_sid is disabled.

I like the session.use_trans_sid idea, and I may do that. My problem was that I was using phpbb, phpnuke, postnuke, and invision board, and they all seemed to do the same thing. I used modrewrite with several of them to shorten the urls, and to allow them to be search engine friendly.

Last question, if I disable the session.use_trans_sid, will people have login problems with any of these apps?

If you turn off session_trans_sid and the browser has cookies disabled you won't be able to make use of any session functions (unless you manually put the session in the url yourself)

IPB use cookie to store the sid, unless it can't...
