What is your favourite free webmail ?

I started out with Hotmail. Gave up on that after a couple of years - yes, spammed to death.

I then moved to Yahoo. Recently got one with Emailaccounts.com.

Found one with a funny domain name - Carrotology.com.

I signed up for a rocketmail account way back in 1996 and still use it even though yahoo swallowed them up in the late 90's.

I started out with a hoverrace.zzn.com email (ZapZone). They're still running their service, it used to be the schniz.

Then I used everyone.net coupled with my own domain name, now I use imp / horde.. though I guess that's not always a free service.

Its a setup for testing but open to public to use. If you spam you are fined and if you give the address for signups that spam then the account is terminated. For years I havent recieved a spam.......for that matter I have not recieved any email in it because I am scared to give the address to anyone [but thats a different matter........no spam ever.....wooooooohoooooo]

    I like softhome.net :-)

Not the fastest, but very reliable and uses greylisting to limit the spam.

I found SpyMac.com to be a really good one, it has a great deal of storage...When the opened it for the general public, they advertised it as beeing the lead competitor of Gmail.

Spymac, a lot of traffic going towards you today

hotmail was my favorite a few years, then they became this bloated email service , now yahoo is my favorite. I've got gmail, still getting used to it .. it's simple, but different from other email services with the use of labels, etc , instead of folders ..

I was using hotmail sincee 1997 and it's really horrible. I've happily switched over to Gmail.

i mainly don't want to change from Hotmail because all my contacts know me there...so it'd be kinda annoying....

I always liked hotpop, webmail & pop3 for free. They also have some really snazzy domain names to use...

I use hotmail for trash mail, i.e. I use it when rigistering at questionable sites.

However, What I have done is installed squirrelmail on my host account and use that as my webmail service, take a look at it, it offers a good free service to you and yours and fully under your control. Most of you will have a domain you can install it under and you wil not regret its use

I moved up to the paid account but mail.uk2.net is awsome, they use squirrelmail, have great spam filters and have the weather forecast mod installed (handy when you get up for the day and first check your email) and also Freecell for when you're bored

Plus, no ads anywhere, not even a text line added to your outgoing mail.

i use quite a few really. hotmail for registering on those spammish sites. yahoo for certain websites. lycos(.co.uk) as my personal. and my own domain address for my personal site.

overall, they have their ups and downs. yahoo is good for it does, minimal ads and such. hotmail is too heavy for my taste, which really puts it at the bottom of the list. lycos is good, not much complains. but lycos.co.uk does seem to have some hiccups with their java coding, or maybe it's just FireFox. ^^

nothing beats my own domain email addresses though

Gmail rocks! I have a beta testing account and have so far found the archiving and searching features to be excellent and extremely useful, especially when trawling through loads of threaded 'conversations' (as Gmail calls them). It is really worth signing up to as soon as you get the opportunity to and I think that the days of Yahoo and Hotmail may be numbered unless they can pull something revolutionary out of the bag soon!
