"Among other findings, the analysis determined that the Chihuahua is actually a type of large rodent, selectively bred for centuries to resemble a canine."

I always said those things looked like big rats.

The study found that several diminutive breeds had been independently created around the world from a variety of other animals, including the Lhasa apso (Tibetan snow rabbit), Pekingese (Chinese water rat), Shih Tzu (stoat), and Yorkshire Terrier (pigeon).
Very interesting things there...a stoat becomes a shih tzu? Makes me think of the days of Dumb and Dumber.

I'm thinking they'll probably find the letters WHT mysteriously carved in the stone at a pyramid tomb in Egypt.

They did always look like some kind of rodent. But I wonder if this finding explains their attraction to Mexican food?

"Oh, heavens, if they make it official that Chihuahuas aren't dogs, it would make my day," said Miami condominium owner Frances LaCroix. "I would finally have grounds to make Elsie Tabernathy get rid of her wretched little yapping pack of rodents, did you say they were? Oh, that would be marvelous."

I wonder what those barbies in Beverly Hills and Malabu will do when they find out they're carrying around a giant rat in their purse.

Koalas aren't bears. They aren't even related to bears. The koala is related to the kangaroo and the wombat. The koala is a mammal. The reason the koala is called a koala bear is because the koala looks like a teddy bear. The koala's scientific name is Phasclarctos cinereus.

Now there are only 2,000 to 8,000 koalas in the wild! Although not officially classified as endangered, the population of Australian koalas has dropped by 90% in less than a decade!

This is due to the destruction of the koala's natural habitat, a narrow crescent on the eastern coast of Australia. Logging, agriculture and urban development have not only reduced the area available to them, but added other dangers. The koala's habitat has been criss-crossed by roads, resulting in many road kills and attacks by neighboring pet dogs are frequent. Disease, too, has taken its toll on the koala.

No, they are a distant relative of an Ewok.

The Koala has no relation to a bear. It is a distant cousin to the Wombat and both the Koala and the Wombats have fossil history over 15 million yearsl.

the study that the article refereneces is real though. it did not produce any of those shocking findings, but the bit about pharaohs being imitations instead of descendants of egyoptian royal hounds is true.
