    Opinions please!

    Hello,

I would like to get you guys opinions regarding the "best" company to get a server with the following specs :

    Intel Dual Xeon
    1 GB / 2 GB RAM
    2000 GB Trafic per month
    10 IPS ( upgradable )
    2 x 80 gb drives ( at least )
    cPanel
Red Hat Fedora ( must be fedora )
Remote Reboot port ( optional )

    Around $250 per month

I need a stable network, and server can be unmanaged. Fast reboots is very important.

Since EV1 and TP ( Total control servers ) dont provide Red Hat fedora their not an option.

Please give your advices, since i really need to get this quickly.

    thanks in advance!
    yeah.. i'm useless!

You could try Servint, best to contact them though rather than look on thier page. Not sure about the price though or OS. Worth a pop.

You do know that RedHat Enterprise Linux is a premium version of Linux from RedHat right? Fedora is almost exactly the same. Just trying to help

Is there any way that you can have them install RedHat 9? I'm sure that if you mention it to them, they'll be happy to do it in order not to lose a customer. From RH9, you can manually upgrade to Fedora. You may lose their management plan, but according to your post, you don't even need their management. This would be your best bet for the price you're looking at.

I use grsec kernels in all my servers, and i'm having problems with the instalation in red hat enterprise, so i need fedora.

I contacted the planet regarding the instalation of red hat 9 / fedora in a total control server, but they dont do that.

I need this server now and more 2 in a near future, so i want a flexible company in order to transfer servers that i have in another dc's.

    best vs worse

Best = Superbservers.net, they use cogent for their main pipe, but in the 6 months I have been with them, I have never had a single problem. I have 7 servers with them. Best bang for your buck.

Worse = XO, they have stolen hundreds of dollars from me because of their stupid cancelation process and they lost my records. XO is overpriced and their billing department is unreasonable.

Looks like they also have connections through Abovenet and Global Crossing. The cogentco connection would turn me off though. Found 27 listings in spamhaus for cogentco including several known spammer gangs.

oh, and hopone.net, the provider for superbservers.net is listed in spews...which mean email sent from servers in that domain/ip block might not be accepted by a number of other ISPs.

    See http://www.spews.org/html/S3035.html

    Nice specs.

Looks like they only have a single connection to the Internet (through hurricane electric).

If you search, the general opinion of Angelnetworkz.net is positive. Always do a Search before you choose though: apparently their setup times have been longer lately.

...and UUNet, Level 3 (pending install) and Allegiance, too, in addition to most traffic going directly to end network via nationwide peers (250+ peer sessions), vs. through any transit, thanks to being on the superior hopone.net network.

    mr. jass,

that is impressive. not so much the providers...since allegiance is in the same league as cognetco (cheap)...but the peering you folks have. very impressive.

did you establish all the peering as hopone or did you acquire it through other means?

Algx and Cogent will be gone soon, replaced by Level 3 and France Telecom (Open Transit), so by the end of the summer it'll be UUnet (MCI), GlobalCrossing, Level 3, AboveNet and France Telecom (Open Transit), in addition to the 250+ peering sessions (via hopone.net).
