Clueless and rushed: Nameserver redirect?
A friend of mine just registered a domain at Dotster.com. (where it is assigned to nameservers NS1.NAMERESOLVE.COM, plus NS2, NS3, NS4)
We want to have it hosted on my VDS server where I've already created some pages for him.
What exactly is it I'm supposed to do to get his domain name (say foo.org) to point to my box?
We don't want to transfer ownership of the domain to me, just have his domain resolve to the pages I created for him. (And we didn't want to pay the extra for the "webforward" option on Dotster)
Thanks in advance for anyone who can step me through this or point me to clear instructions somewhere.
from his control panel tell him to change his nameservers to your nameservers to work.
usually updates take 24-72hrs to update globally, unless its a .org/biz/info/us its almost instant
