Been looking around for a script that you could feed a username/pass combo into and have it spit out an encrypted pass folks could just paste into they're htpasswd files but can't seem to dig one up. Maybe I'm lazy (yes, yes I am but does anyone know where I can procure something like this before I have to whip it up myself?
Found one. Fancier than I require but...
if it helps:
htpasswd [-cmdpsD] passwordfile username
htpasswd -b[cmdpsD] passwordfile username password
Yah, just didn't want to write the form that calls the prog that makes the pass that returns the page that lives in the house that jack built...
Thanks for the response though!
Doesn't Apache come with one? I've used one in my Apache directory, I think it was called passwd or somthing along those lines.
I'm just setting up a form for my customers to be able to generate the syntax for their .htaccess files and then user/pass combos for .htpasswd without having a shell account on the box.
Am I missing something here? We're all talking about the same thing yes? A form to access the htpasswd function or at least spit out a reasonable facsimilie?
Oh, BTW, in case anybody in the future stumbles on this thread looking to do the same thing here's a script for generating .htaccess files some nice folks are offering.
