    Duron 1 ghz - Max temp ?

Whats the max temperature I should allow a duron to work at, I am trying to get it as low as possible.

There is a case fan + CPU fan, and quite a large heatsink. and it went all the way to 48 degrees (not even booted).

I think thats way too hot, I got this box from my friend's old office, they had it there without use.

40 - 50 is ok but I would have a automatic power off at 70C

Below 40 is hard without gell or a water cooling system.

I have a P4 2.6Ghz HT running @ 27 degrees, its why I asked, and I turned the alarm on, its not a server, just checking since I never assembled the older AMDs into a comp.

I'm pretty sure the Duron 1 GHz's ran a lot hotter than the current AMD and Intel chips. Don't worry about it.

Max Die temperature is 85C for all chips above 1.4GHz, and 90C for all chips 1.3 and below. According to AMD's technical docs...

    I'd set the alarm/shutdown at 70C.
